Two People Terminated This Week
This has been a bad week and a good week. It was bad for me because, as necessary as it was, I still felt bad about terminating two people. It was also good because I did my job, and we are all better off. We cannot have people acting inappropriately in our name; it drags all of us down.
Below are the mass e-mails I sent to our customers, verbatim. After that, I will share some feedback from our customers.
March 19, 2012 Mass Email to Stambush Customers:
Hello Great Customer,
Yesterday I terminated a therapist for gross misconduct at a customer’s site. To make matters worse, the therapist did not seem to understand what he/she did was wrong. It was so wrong ---- and I don’t think I can help this person change his/her ways. If I thought I could, then I would give it a shot.
I am telling you this because I want you to know that we are always trying to do what is right.
Thank you for standing with Stambush all these years, and please feel free to call me for any reason.
March 22, 2012 Mass Email to Stambush Customers:
Hello Great Customers,
Sadly, I terminated another contractor this week (Tuesday).
This time, I am ashamed to say, our contractor overcharged our customer by a lot. It was so egregious that I had to terminate him/her. Of course, I also made it right with the customer.
So yes, Stambush got a little smaller this week. However, I not only feel good about doing what I know is the right thing to do, I feel good knowing that Stambush is better off. I know there is a boatload of therapy professionals in this town who want to support a staffing company that does not tolerate unprofessional behavior (by either joining or calling us for help).
All this being said, I hate terminating people. It makes me sad.
Thank you for supporting Stambush. I am grateful to be a part of this community.
Customer E-Mail Feedback in No Particular Order
Nice job Scott. I find with those personalities, it’s usually not the first time they have heard that they have a bad attitude! They go through life and are usually a problem everywhere they go! You did the right thing, patients and co-workers deserve better. I think as the shortages get worse, we will see more of this because they think they are a precious commodity and we won’t deal with it!
I am proud of you!
Sometimes you gotta do whatcha gotta do. It's not easy, but it's for the best.
Have a good weekend.
You guys are my primary source when I look for therapists, unfortunately there is no one available to cover my PT needs when I need coverage.
Scott,
You are definitely doing the right thing! Having been a contractor and now as the management that uses contract, I have always felt that it is imperative that therapists be held to a high standard of ethics. I appreciated the support that you all gave me when a company tried to use my title and force me to charge Medicare for services not rendered. Fred informed the state about that one and never sent another therapist to that unethical business again. It is always best to do the right thing, even if it does not feel good at the time.
Final Thoughts for This Issue
I am sure many of you know who we are talking about. In fact, some of you have complained about these people and how they conducted themselves in our name, and I thank you. Reporting bad behavior of a fellow Stambush therapist is everybody’s job. Granted, sometimes it is a very small matter that you may feel comfortable handling on your own. But if you ever have to ask yourself, “What should I do,” the answer is “I need to call my office.” We need to be aware of everything relevant, and we will respect your confidentiality. This is not “snitching”; this is taking care of your company and your family. Stambush is your company too, and we are all connected to each other. For the record, I did explain the reasons to these people. Hopefully, my words will benefit them and those around them.
