Sad Story
I got a call the other day from the spouse of a therapy professional who used to work with Stambush many years ago. Now the therapist has lost his/her PRN position all of a sudden and wants to come back to Stambush. After some thinking, we said no. Here is what happened.
Our Super Duper office Stars remembered him/her as being nice, but this person had some productivity issues. Moreover, there were some reliability issues because this person did not have a cell phone. We had to do scheduling through the spouse. So, we had to wait for the therapist to get home and then hope that the spouse remembered to convey the message, all the while waiting for a response. This was not conducive to the lightning communication and decision making required at Stambush. Granted, most of the time we book you all without asking when we know it will be a good fit, but if we are not certain, we need an answer fast.
I told him/her we did not think he/she was a good fit for Contract because of our experience with him/her having no phone. Immediately, I was assured this would not be a problem because the therapist now had his/her own cell phone. So, I said I would think about it and call back later in the day.
So I called back around 2 pm, and guess what? The spouse answered. The spouse said the therapist was on the other phone and offered to take a message. I left a message for the therapist to call me on my cell phone.
And, three hours later around 5 pm the therapist called back. Now I was already going to say we were not interested, but if I wasn’t, I sure would have said it then.
It gets worse.
While working PRN for the supposed extra money, this person had no benefits, no retirement plan, and upon being sent home with very little warning - nobody to help him/her find work. However, he/she did have a family to feed and was the only bread winner…in December of all months. I did wish him/her luck, and I did feel bad even though I was just doing my job.
What’s My Job?
What’s my job you ask? To do everything I can to help Stambush win every situation, and that means hiring people like you. Everywhere I go, I hear “Stambush is best," and half of the time it is not even me saying it.
Summary – Many years ago, this person left Stambush with a not so good impression. This person took a so called higher paying PRN position and it bit him/her in the buttocks. This person has a spouse, kids, and no work.
Sidenote - This person left Stambush years ago because he/she moved. We had no idea he/she took a PRN position upon moving back to Houston, and it played no role in our decision making. We rehire all the time. One person I can think of has been hired about four of five times. I mentioned this because a lot of times the PRN play can be a big mistake even though it may look good on the surface, especially when the therapist has a family or must support him or herself.
Zig Zigler Died
Zig Zigler, motivational speaker extraordinaire died on Nov. 20 in Plano Texas at the age of 86. Here are some quotes from this extraordinary man. I hope you find them helpful. I might have gone on too long here, but I can just picture you all using these quotes with some of your patients.
Building a better you is the first step to building a better America.
Every obnoxious act is a cry for help.
If you go looking for a friend, you’re going to find they’re very scarce. If you go out to be a friend, you’ll find them everywhere.
Many marriages would be better if the husband and the wife clearly understood that they are on the same side.
Money isn’t the most important thing in life, but it’s reasonably close to oxygen on the “gotta have it” scale.
Money won’t make you happy… but everybody wants to find out for themselves.
People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.
Sometimes adversity is what you need to face in order to become successful.
When you are tough on yourself, life is going to be infinitely easier on you.
You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want.
Personality
The 25th and final character trait to help build a pleasing personality (according to Napoleon Hill’s book, Napoleon Hill’s Keys to Success) is something everyone in this company has. I know this because I know you all (maybe not as well as I would like but well enough to know you possess it). Maybe others can’t see it as well as I can, but I have been studying people all my life. So take it from me: you have it.
Personal Magnetism - Your energy is what you were born with. Channel your energy into your effort and your effort will be the source of appeal to others.
