Personality
In contract and life, we all know that personality makes a huge difference in whether or not we are successful. Now I am no expert on personality (just ask Susan), but in Napoleon Hill’s book “Napoleon Hill’s Keys To Success," 25 characteristics of a successful personality are listed and explained. It’s too time consuming to list them all in this issue, but I will try to go right down Mr. Hill’s list a little at a time. Here are your first five:
1. Positive Mental Attitude – “PMA is the most important aspect of any attractive personality…It modifies every word you say and determines the nature of the emotions you feel. It affects every thought you have and the results your thoughts bring you."
2. Flexibility – “Being able to adapt yourself quickly to changing circumstances and emergencies without panic or loss of temper is a significant skill…This does not mean shedding your principles or your goals. A chameleon is still a chameleon regardless of whether it is brown or green."
3. Sincerity of Purpose – "Sincerity of Purpose – or its lack – writes itself so indelibly into your words and deeds that anyone can recognize it…Be sincere first of all with yourself, and you will steadily grow in self-reliance."
4. Promptness of Decision – “Dillydallying does not inspire popularity. In this fast moving world, those who do not move quickly cannot keep up with the parade….Prompt decision making is a habit supported by your PMA, which gives you confidence. It is also closely tied to your sincerity of purpose…"
5. Courtesy – "The cheapest and most profitable quality in the world is courtesy. It is absolutely free, save for the moments it takes to express it. Unfortunately, today it is also scarce, thus all the more valued when displayed."
As we all go through this staffing world together, let’s keep on proving how outstanding we are. It will be fun, profitable, and consistent with the way we want the world to be.
